A large audience can help a launch, but it cannot rescue a product buyers do not understand. Before designing a huge bundle, ask: Who needs this, and what will it help them do?
A useful digital product might be a checklist, planner, spreadsheet, template or guide. Its value comes from making one task easier or clearer for a particular person.
Choose a narrow problem
“Social media templates” is broad. “A month of simple posts for a new cleaning business” clarifies the buyer and task. Read comparable product reviews, note questions and speak with potential buyers. Australian market-research guidance and the US Small Business Administration can guide your research.
Make the smallest useful version
Build only what supports one outcome. A starter pack could include a weekly planning page, seven editable layouts and a short instruction page. Test links and fields. Print a printable product; open an editable buyer copy separately where possible. My article on uses for social media templates offers examples.
Answer buyers’ questions
Show what is included, file formats, delivery, account requirements and permitted uses. Show actual pages rather than only a cover. Etsy sellers should check its digital-listing instructions. Measure whether people find the listing, understand its images and repeatedly ask the same question. Improve the first product before building more without feedback.
If you want to build a website alongside the product, my guide to starting a blog with zero money offers another place to begin.
Quick questions
Should I start with a bundle? Start with the smallest useful product; bundle later.
Do I need my own website? No, though it can support long-term content.
What should I do today? Write one sentence naming the buyer, task and result. Research further if it is still vague.
