If you have a brick and motor company taking your business online is a nice way to expand your business. Taking your business online will open doors for you to tap on untapped customers you wouldn’t reach while operating offline. Domains give your business a home, and online presence therefore choosing the right domain is one step to the success of your business. I will be guiding you through what a domain is, how to come up with the right domain name, the parts of a domain, domain extensions and some of the best domains you can get in the market. So keep reading and hopefully, you get all your answers about domains today.
What is a Domain?
A domain name is the unique name that you choose for your business. This is the name that you will be identified with if anyone searches your business. For example my domain name is empowering possibilties. Therefore a your domain name is your websites name. It is the address internet users will type in to search your website.
How to come up with a Domain Name.
Choosing a domain name is important for your website because it represents your brand or business online. When choosing a domain name my recommendation is that you consider the following:
The name should be unique
No one else identifies with it
The name should be short
Easy to remember
Avoid special characters so its easy to remember
How to check if your Domain name is available.
One of my favorite tools to check domain names is Bluehost. Since there are so many domain name options to choose from, the first thing you want to check is that your chosen domain name is still available. To begin, you will enter the domain name in the search box below and then click “Search” for your results. When the search is complete, if your domain name is available, you’ll be directed to a page where you can review and purchase it.
In the event your domain name isn’t available, Bluehost can provide several variations and extensions of that domain name for you to choose from. Type any name that comes to your mind and can fit your business below and see if that name is available. This is to ensure no one else has a website or domain that goes by that name.
Now that you know what a domain name is and the force behind choosing your domain name now let’s talk about domain extensions. What they are and why you should choose yours carefully.
What is a Domain Extension?
This is the part after the domain name and the “DOT”. Did you know that the most recognizable domain extension is .com Domain extensions are the perfect way to express your brand in a vivid and creative way. Domain extensions accurately reflect what your brand/business is about. Just like domain names increase your business credibility, domain extensions define the industry your business is in.
I don’t understand when you say domain Extensions?
You must have googled website addresses with words ending with .com .org. .NET .jobs now this are what I mentioned above – Domain extensions or TLD(Top Level Domains)
You will be surprised that we have over one hundred domains extensions. However, there are a few points to note. Let’s look at different domain extensions and what they mean. This will help you decide what extension is right for you.
Generic Top level Domains (gTLD)
These are general-purpose domains and are the most common domains on the web.
The gTLDs can typically be registered by anyone although some of them require you to meet certain requirements.
Examples of generic top-level domains are :
.com
.online
.org
.NET
.biz
.club
.store
.blog
.mobi
.travel
.jobs
.info AND MANY MORE….
Country code top level domains (CCTLDs)
These are extensions based on specific county or geographic locations. Some of this extensions are open for anyone to register while others are restricted to only those that live and work in the specific county. Examples of ccTLDs are :
.au for Australia
.jp for Japan
.ke for Kenya
.in for India…etc… the list huge!
Enough of the domains name and domain extension. Lets looks into what a URL is.
What is a URL?
URL stands for Uniform Resource Locator. A URL is a standard way of identifying things on the internet, such as a website, web page, file, or newsgroup. The first part of the URL, before the colon, indicates the method of access; for websites, this is designated by the letters HTTPS. The part of the URL after the colon is interpreted through the access method. For instance, our URL is https://www.name.com. The first part indicates the method of access to our website, and the second part, including the slashes, indicates the name of the resource, our domain name, and the location of the resource—our website.
With all this information at your disposal, it’s now over to you. It’s time to get your business online. Take the first step and choose a domain that suits you.
Get a domain that identifies with you today with Bluehost.

What is Transcription?
According to the Oxford Dictionary, Transcription is a written or printed version of something and the final product is a transcript. Therefore in this case I will explain it in the layman’s language. A transcription is converting an audio file into a written document. Nowadays there are many software’s that can get you easily start. The person who does this is a Transcriptionist.
Types of Transcription.
There are two types of transcription:
General transcription.
Medical Transcription.
Transcription companies are always hiring so it’s good to have look and see how it goes with you.
What are the Are the Skills and Requirements.
The basic requirement for you to become a transcriptionist is to have access to good internet, a laptop, high-quality headphones and a foot pedal. I would also recommend having external speakers connected to your laptop or desktop to be able to listen to audio loudly if the file you are working on has poor audio quality. This way you can get to hear some words louder.
The good news is that there are transcription software’s that you can use to reduce the pain of converting audio and video to text. This transcription software saves you thousands of hours every day. Some of the best transcription software are:
Dragon Speech Recognition
Sonix
Otter
Dragon anywhere
Happy Scribe
The FTW Transcriber
Rev
Transcribe
Nvivo
Designrr
RingDNA
Trint
There is so much transcription software. The ones I have mentioned are just but a few.
Now, for you to nail your application with most of the transcription companies, you have to be able to prove to them that you can type the words that you hear correctly. Therefore, some companies will have you submit a transcription test that is normally 3 to 5 minutes long. If you pass these simple audio files and a few grammar questions, then you will be given access to start earning with the converting audio files to text and get paid.
Do note that the following points are key to passing your audio file as quality expectations normally fall in this category. These are the reasons customers return their files to be re-done.
Accuracy – You are required to correctly hear and type what words were said and who said them. In doing this be precise and transcribe what exactly was said. Check your spellings, have a sharp ear to details not to confuse words that sound the same but spelled differently (Homophones) , don’t omit or add content, use punctuation and symbols correctly, be sure to use the right tags. Also check the user guidelines to know what style you are required to transcribe your audio file.
Formatting – You are required to correctly communicate the words you hear and notate in a way that is readable and digestible. For this one, note that you need to follow the customers instructions in the files when they use words like “new paragraph”, “period”, “comma” ,make sure not to type them but instead take it a sign to insert the right punctuation or symbol and not type out the instructions. Use speaker labels correctly, insert the right notation tags, use paragraphs so your work can look easy to read. If a customer has provided the speaker names be sure to use them and most importantly check to ensure if timestamps are needed.
Important skill sets for Transcriptionists
Good Typing speed
Microsoft Office
Excellent customer service
Good communication
Fluent English
Excellent listening skills
Be determined
Good Posture. You will sit for long hours.
Where possible get training to maximize your chances of getting high approval rates in your job applications.
Learn how to Transcribe with the best transcription courses
To be honest you can become a successful transcriptionist by learning the company’s transcription style guide. Transcription isn’t for everyone. It’s not the easy job the scammers make it out to be. To make real money doing this — money that’s actually worth your time spent — you need training.
This way you open more opportunities to earn more money as compared to if you don’t have any experience. If you have some entry-level experience and have applied to some of the companies for you to earn even more money you may need in-depth training. I have done my research and so far Transcribe Anywhere is the best Transcription Training course I have come across. Transcribe Anywhere offers the tips and tricks of how to be able to nail the most difficult transcription files.
Styles of Transcribing Files.
The audio files that you transcribe will come with instructions on the style of transcription the customer would love their files to be in. There are two styles in transcription:
Verbatim
Non-Verbatim
Below is a brief summary of the two:
Verbatim
Non-verbatim/ Default style.
Include speech sounds: Mm-hmm(Affirmative) or mm-mm(Negative), Uh-huh(Affirmative) or Uh-uh(Negative)
Include speech sounds.
Transcribe exactly what you hear
Lightly edit for readability. Don’t change structure or meaning of the speech.
Include filler words (ums, uhs, you know, like, right, well etc. )
No filler words
Include stutters (e.g. I think we should buy s-s-s-some b-b-bread.)
No stutters (e.g. I think we should buy some bread.)
Include False starts/ self corrections.
Include words spoken intentionally. e.g. I think, probably, well, really, just, e.t.c.
Verbatim vs non-verbatim
Having listed the two difference, bear in mind that each transcription company has its own style guide that is to be followed.
How much can I earn as a transcriptionist.
The Answer to this is Unlimited because the more you do the projects assigned to you the more you get to earn. As a transcriptionist, you get to choose the number of hours you want to work. Therefore the more hours you put in the more you get to earn.
However, according to Glassdoor the basic salary a transcriptionist can make is A$47,316 / yr as I write this article.

Hello again,
I admit it. I got caught up in the numbers game. For months, I was totally focused on building my email marketing list — more subscribers equal more sales, right?
At least that’s the way it’s supposed to work. But in reality, my sales didn’t keep pace with my list growth. So I got busy learning what it takes to improve conversions.
As it turns out, I was making a rookie mistake. I was using email to deliver a sales pitch to my marketing list, (nothing wrong with that.) But then I was dumping the reader onto my home page — not the smartest thing to do.
And then it hit me. I was doing the same thing with my campaigns, social media profiles, guest post footers, just about everything. Imagine how frustrating it was to my readers. They would click to get more about something specific and land on a general page.
I discussed it with a friend, and she told about a concept she learned from Brian Clark of Copyblogger. He advocates using email to engage readers and get them interested. Then he takes them “off road” to deliver specific information and close the sale. Perfect Timing! I love that image — driving your 4X4 off the road to check out an interesting path 🙂
And what does “off road” mean? In the world of online marketing, it means creating a landing page with the exact information the reader needs.
I use and recommend GetResponse for small businesses. It includes a landing page builder. With a few clicks I can grab a template and customize it with my text. Then I add images, social sharing icons, and action buttons. And putting it online is a snap.
I was always jealous of marketers who could look into a webcam and deliver a marketing message — and carry it off with style. Have you experienced the same or is it just me feeling that?
Whenever I tried it, I felt exposed, like a bullfighter facing a bull. His eyes glared. Just waiting for you to make a mistake. Did I mention that I’m a bit camera-shy?
Advertisements
But then it occurred to me. All the top marketers show their face to the camera, so their followers can have a one-on-one experience with them. And not just the marketing superstars but everyday business people too.
I mentioned my camera shyness to a friend. He said I was too focused on myself. And he was right. I needed to focus on my message — and my audience. So rather than just staring into the camera, I decided to involve others using videoconferencing.
Advertisements
That was around the time my email service provider, GetResponse, introduced a webinar add-on. I found I could upgrade to the Pro package, which includes webinars, for just a few extra bucks per month. So I did it!
As I began my search for a service, my first reaction was “sticker shock.” But as I tried cheaper alternatives, I found that quality was a problem. The idea of glitches added to my anxiety.
For my first experiment, I invited a few of my clients to preview something I’ve been working on. GetResponse Pro enabled me to bring up my email marketing list and choose people to invite — very easy. And my invitees accepted.
And what was my topic? Videoconferencing 🙂
So my small group enjoyed checking out the various features. We took turns in front of the camera — up to three of us at a time. Soon we were all involved, taking turns using the presentation screen, whiteboard, chat, and video player.
Advertisements
And we took turns leading the meeting. I noticed that my clients were just as camera-shy as I was. It’s only human. Gradually, we forgot our self-consciousness and just enjoyed ourselves.
Want to know the hardest part? You have to remember to click the “record” button. But I did it! And when I reviewed the recording afterward, I found I didn’t look nearly as awkward as I thought. And as the meeting progressed, I relaxed more and more.
Now I use it for everything.
I can:
Invite followers to an online demo to introduce my business. Deliver a sales talk to a small (or not-so-small) group of prospects. Train new clients to use products I sell. Collaborate on marketing projects with online partners. Offer free webinar recordings to build interest. Package in-depth webinars into educational courses. Video-conferencing is now an important part of my marketing and sales funnel. Prospecting is easier and more enjoyable. Online sales presentations help me close more sales. Training classes are easier on everybody’s schedule.
I’m able to do more business in less time, thanks to videoconferencing.
A while back, I noticed that my business seemed flat. It was generating enough money to pay the bills and provide a decent living — but no growth. It was like being on a treadmill.
So I looked at my email analytics for clues. My newsletter gets good opens and click-throughs. I also get good engagement with my readers. And my offers convert to sales at a healthy rate.
But a closer look revealed that I was losing subscribers. I usually don’t stress over unsubscribes. A reader’s interests can change, and they move on. Unsubscribes are part of the business.
What worried me was that I wasn’t replacing them with fresh subscribers. I knew that if the trend continued, my business could wither like a spring flower.
That was around the time GetResponse introduced new sign-up form types with better behavior for attracting potential subscribers. So I decided to experiment.
I was hesitant to try pop-ups; (some people say they are annoying.) But I found that GetResponse offers lots of ways to control how they appear.
Guess what else I discovered. They work! It turns out that readers need a gentle nudge to take action. And people may say they don’t like pop-up forms, but they do use them.
Further investigation proved that I also wasn’t taking full advantage of social media for finding new subscribers. So I made sure every newsletter included social sharing buttons, so subscribers could help spread my message. And I spent some time on GetResponse integrations for Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn — they’ve got some pretty cool ways to interact on social media.
Immediately, my subscriber list began to grow. And as new subscribers engaged, they became customers.
This growth inspired me to try another list-growth technique — webinars. I’ve always thought of webinars as a tool for closing sales. And it is! But webinars also have list-growth potential.
The technique? Prepare an introductory webinar on a juicy topic that will interest those in your target markets. Schedule it a few weeks in the future. Then start promoting it — that ‘s where the list-building potential comes in.
Encourage friends and followers to sign up for the webinar. But be transparent. Let them know that when they enter their email address, they agree to receive your updates. Reassure them that you’ll never abuse the privilege.
Sounds complex, right? Well it is, but the right software can help. I use GetResponse. It’s affordable for any business and includes all the list-building tools you’ll ever need.

When I started my career in online marketing, I wanted to use the best lead-generation technology available. So I diligently combed the market for innovations.
But even after choosing technology, I spent a lot of time reviewing the latest tech news to make sure I wasn’t missing anything.
It burned up a lot of hours — time I could have spent on my core business. And it required a lot of mental bandwidth. (There are only so many things you can focus on in a day.)
A friend noticed my dilemma and pointed me to GetResponse. She told me they had some new tools that would interest me.
She suggested that instead of constantly searching for innovations, I should choose an innovative company and let them do the searching for me.
Believe me, I liked the sound of that. So I checked it out. She was right!
In recent years, GetResponse has come up groundbreaking innovations:
Responsive Email Design – They were first in the industry to introduce a design interface that automatically formats every message to fit the screens of any mobile or desktop device and any operating system.
Landing Pages – And they added a slick, new design interface to their platform that turns out high-converting landing pages in minutes.
Forms – They also integrated forms with landing pages to funnel sign-ups into email campaigns automatically.
Webinars – Their latest innovation is a webinar platform, now an integrated component of their PRO service option — great for demos.
And more – They’ve produced innovations in video email marketing, smartphone apps, QR codes, A/B testing, inbox preview, email timing, global view, perfect timing, and custom fields.
Just as important, they constantly update the long-time favorites:
Autoresponders – GetResponse added sophisticated timing controls and action-triggered emails and then combined it with advanced segmentation for targeted campaigns with the look and feel of one-to-one communication.
Email Creator – Likewise, they reinvented the email design interface, giving users access to hundreds of professionally designed templates, a drag-and-drop editing interface, and point-and-click tools for campaign development.
Email Analytics – And they expanded email analytics to report autoresponder performance and social media sharing. They even dovetailed it with segmentation, so users can click to create segments for finer targeting.
Can you see that I’m a big fan of GetResponse? Check it out, and you’ll discover it’s an all-inclusive platform — the only online lead-generation tool you’ll ever need.
*I am not an attorney. I do not have a degree or expertise in law. I am providing the following information based on career experience and online research.*
Recently, I discovered a unique service and couldn’t wait to tell you about it. It’s a new twist on techniques used by top Internet marketers — one that involves videoconferencing. Here’s how I’ve seen it used in the past.
Some marketers keep it simple. They invite their email subscribers to sign up for a free online event, such as a webinar, training session, or product demo.
Other marketers make it more interesting. They design a “sideways sales letter” — a drip campaign delivering fresh content every few days. One message is text. Another might be video. Another links to a landing page. The eventual CTA is the same — sign-up for their free webinar.
What’s their goal? Getting face-to-face with prospects.
Now, I like to find out what’s new, so I enjoy receiving this type of campaign. And if the drip content is interesting, I sign up for the webinar.
We all know the webinar will end with a sales offer. And I admit — sometimes I buy. No, not every time. But the format gives me all the information I need. Then I can make a decision that’s right for me.
I’ve always wanted to try this approach — but it sounds complicated, right? I’d have to manage my contacts in multiple systems.
And then there’s the expense. When you combine landing pages, email marketing, video conferencing and external tools from various providers, it can cost upwards of $250 a month.
Then I discovered an innovative approach. GetResponse introduced a Pro package for do-it-yourselfers with no programming skills (like me), with all of those systems integrated into one account. And since they designed it for growing small businesses, it’s priced at only $49 per month.
If you’ve ever wanted to combine email, webinars, video, email and landing pages to juice-up the flow of your sales funnel, you owe it to yourself to check it out. Here’s a link to the details — no opt-in required.

As you’ve probably noticed, I’m on a mission to expand my business. So I’ve been trying every list-building technique in the book. More subscribers, more potential sales.
Know what works best so far? It’s giving visitors lots of creative ways to sign up for my list. Well, some of the creative ways you can choose to include are using a lead magnet like free pdf ebooks, a short list of important points that your visitors would be happy to have, So I’ve been exploring the collection of form types included in my GetResponse email marketing account.
For example, on my blog, I can create a scroll form that follows the reader as they scroll down the page — a friendly reminder to sign up for updates. Or place a fixed-bar form at the top of the reader’s browser, so it’s always in view.
And GetResponse includes interesting ways to grab attention — a shake form that … well, it shakes (very gently) to catch the reader’s eye. There’s an exit pop-up form you can set to appear when the reader is leaving (to reduce bounces). And an image pop-up form that allows you to add a colorful photo or image.
One of my strategies is to offer a sign-up incentive. I use a download form that releases the e-document and adds the new subscriber to my marketing list
You can customize these forms. In fact, there’s a Color Magic tool that matches the form colors to the colors on your website or blog automatically. And any form can be coded to add the new subscriber to the campaign of your choice.
Difficult? Nope. After I finish choosing the settings, I copy a snippet of code and paste it into the website HTML — and there it is, looking great.
What else? Oh yes, you can add custom fields to the form. The extra data is useful for segmenting my list, personalizing messages, and providing dynamic content.
As you know, I started using social media to build my list. (If you’re not, it’s time to wake up and smell the coffee.) GetResponse has free tools that integrate sign-up forms with everyday business tools like Facebook, WordPress, PrestaShop, Joomla, WooCommerce, and many more.
To sum up, I couldn’t be happier with the growth of my email list. Once you get forms in place, they keep working night and day, week after week. And if a particular form seems to be under-producing, I can run an A/B test and then tweak it to find out what works best.
